Beyond Baran Dance

Baran Dance is proud to announce the launch of our partnership with Our.BRIDGE, a non-profit enrichment program that focuses on the education and socio-emotional development of children who are new to our country and culture. We will be offering weekly dance classes to a group of these wonderful students, but need your help. They are motivated to move, but need the right shoes! We are currently taking donations of used or new ballet and jazz shoes in the following sizes and quantities:

Children’s 2 (1), 3 (8), 4 (1), Adult 5.5 (1)

If your child has outgrown a pair that could use a new home, please drop them off at Open Door Studios through October 31st. Or feel free to pick up an extra pair while you’re shopping for the year. We are also taking monetary donations online HERE! (All donations to Baran Dance through October will go to our outreach program.) Some little feet will thank you very much!

Yard Art Day

Then stick around for an al fresco dance party with awesome and (very) local folk music duet Sinners & Saints! Bring what and whoever you need for a jammin’ good time – kids, friends, and beverages are all welcome!

Yard Art Day is a grassroots arts exhibition, curated by the community for the community. The annual LABOR DAY event will take place for 24 hours and is for anyone and all to express themselves creatively despite their age or level of expertise. Art of all mediums is allowed – from hula hooping to sculpture – whatever your artistic heart desires!

Summatime

Summer is finally here (or at least it feels like it)! Baran Dance will be on hiatus until early Fall, but that doesn’t mean we’re just relaxing by the pool with Mojitos (ok, sometimes). Here’s what we’re up to this Summer…

CAREY’S GETTING MARRIED!
A HUGE congratulations to Carey Gates on tying the knot this July to the love of your life, Bobby French! Fun fact… Carey and Bobby met after the very first Baran Dance show, at the introduction of mutual friend Lauren Bickerstaff!

LAUREN’S HAVING A BABY!
Speaking of Lauren, we could not be more thrilled to welcome the next Baran Dance baby to the world! That’s right, Lauren and Josh are expecting their first bundle of love this Fall. You better rock that belly this Summer, girl. Congrats to the Bicks!

BEN IS IN MAINE
Ben Henley is spending the Summer at the Maine State Music Theatre, where he is rehearsing 12-15 hours a day, performing in five shows, and earning points towards his Actor’s Equity Card. He’s already made some great friends and connections (because, he’s Ben.) We are wishing you all the best! (But, come back.)

AUDREY’S GOING TO SCHOOL!
Last but not least, Audrey will be starting the Masters of Fine Arts in Dance program at Hollins University this Summer. She’ll be spending five weeks on the beautiful campus of Hollins in Roanoke, VA, then traveling to Germany for three weeks to study at the Forsythe Company Studio and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt! Wish her luck, or… Viel Gluck!

Of course we all have fun and exciting things planned for the Summer, and hope you do to! Don’t forget to suppot your local theaters, companies, and artists during these dog days. Stay safe and cool, Charlotte, and we’ll see you in the Fall with some surprises!
